There is no shortage of amazing things to do in the Poconos. Whether you’re whitewater rafting down the Delaware, taking a hike through one of the many state parks, or enjoying a cocktail and entertainment at a nightclub; the Poconos has plenty to offer.
In this guide, I’m covering all of the best things to do in the Poconos. We have activities for kids, families, couples, and anyone looking to get away for a while.
Fun Things to Do in the Poconos
Finding things to do in the Poconos is exciting because there are so many fun, enjoyable, and thrilling options. When people visit or move to the Poconos, they don’t even realize how many activities there are. I wish I could cover them all, but here are some of the most overall enjoyable things to do while you’re here.
Split Rock Resort, Lake Harmony
Split Rock offers everything in one place. You get an amazing hotel, a great resort, and an indoor water park that you and the family can enjoy all year long. Whether you’re traveling with kids or as a couple, this incredible place is one of the most popular resorts in the state.
Jack Frost Mountain Resort, White Haven
If you’re hitting the Poconos during the winter, you’ll want to check out Jack Frost Big Boulder or “Boulder” as the locals call it. The resort offers an assortment of ski slopes as well as lodging, dining, and more. One thing I think the Poconos does better than anywhere is they provide an all-inclusive environment so you never have to go very far to find something.
Pocono TreeVentures, East Stroudsburg
When thrill is what you desire you can jump from treetop to treetop at Pocono TreeVentures. Ride the ziplines, jump from canopies, and crawl through giant rope nets as you navigate your way to the finish line in the beautiful Pocono Mountains.
Whitewater Challengers, Weatherly
The ultimate adventure takes place here at Whitewater Challengers. You get to choose how extreme you’re feeling as you ride through the rapids of the Lehigh River Gorge through the Pocono Mountains. This is by far one of the best things to do in the Poconos.
Things to Do in the Poconos for Couples
Since the Poconos became a destination for New York City visitors, it was known as the “Honeymooners Paradise.” A lot has changed over the years and resorts have started to provide more options for families and kids as well. That said, there’s still no shortage of things to do for couples looking to reignite the spark.
Susquehanna Brewing Company, Pittston
Take a tour or sample the delicious craft beers and IPAs at the Susquehanna Brewing Company. It’s about a 30-45 minute drive from the Pocono Mountains but well worth it for all the beer connoisseurs.
Mt. Airy Casino Resort, Mt. Pocono
Press your luck at the Poconos very own casino and resort. They’ve got everything here from blackjack, Texas hold’em, roulette, baccarat, and more. Not to mention the incredible restaurants, clubs, and bars located in the casino.
Cove Haven, Lakeville
When you’re looking for things to do for couples, you can’t miss the Cove Haven series of resorts. They have three resorts:
Cove Haven
Paradise Stream
Pocono Palace
These resorts are synonymous for the champagne glass whirlpool jacuzzi and the indoor heart shaped pools in the rooms. If you’re looking for a trip that really allows you to get away with your partner and kindle the flame, this is the place.
The Lodge at Woodloch, Hawley
Woodloch is nothing short of extraordinary. I don’t think there is any resort in the country like this. Here you can spend time with your partner doing couples massages, hot yoga, mud baths, meditation classes, and jacuzzi baths overlooking the mountains. The Lodge at Woodloch is worth a further look so don’t ignore this one.
Things to Do with Kids in the Poconos
As mentioned, the Poconos has become much more “family-friendly” over the years. Many resorts offer lodging for kids now, they support kid-friendly activities, and they provide plenty for the whole family to do. If you’re looking for things to do with kids in the Poconos, these are the top choices.
Kalahari Indoor Waterpark, Pocono Manor
Kalahari is the indoor waterpark to trump all indoor waterparks. It is the country's largest indoor waterpark and it’s so much more than that. At the resort you get exceptional lodging, awesome experiences like virtual reality laser tag, arcades, and more. Plus, for the adults they have great dining options and spa treatments.
Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm, Stroudsburg
If you’re looking to slow things down a little and take in some local history, Quiet Valley is a cool option. It’s a non-profit, living museum that is based on the 19th century Pennsylvania German agricultural heritage. You’ll find people dressed for the period across the 114 beautiful acres of Pocono Mountain farm land.
Great Wolf Lodge Waterpark, Scotrun
Jumping right back into it, another great thing for kids to do in the Poconos is Great Wolf Lodge. This is an indoor waterpark that offers tons of slides, pools, and even an indoor rollercoaster.
Claws ‘N’ Paws Zoo, Lake Ariel
Claws ‘N’ Paws is a zoo located in the woods of the Pocono Mountains. Here you can get close to animals such as Bengal Tigers, Snow Leopards, and assorted mammals, birds, and reptiles. The zoo offers daily “keeper chats” where they talk about certain animals with the kids and they get the opportunity to feed them.
Things to Do in the Poconos at Night
When the sun goes down, it’s time to play and the Poconos offers a large assortment of nightlife activities for adults to enjoy.
The Sherman Theater, Stroudsburg
The Sherman Theater is located in downtown Stroudsburg and they hold concerts and shows throughout the week and weekend. Here you can enjoy local artists as well as some big names that come around every once in a while.
Get Wet Ultra Pool, Mt. Pocono
Located inside Mount Airy Casino, the Get Wet Ultra Pool is one of the most unique experiences in the area. Here you can throw on your bathing suit and jump into a club - that’s in the pool. They have a kitchen and bar located in the pool and there are private cabanas you can rent for you and your friends.
